Our History

It all began in 1978 when founder and owner Marilyn Hoare opened Huntington House’: one of the country’s first nursing care homes. Marilyn was a nurse living in Surrey at the time and felt so passionate about giving high quality nursing care for the elderly, that she decided to turn it into a reality and provide affordable, luxury 24-hour nursing care.

Today, the Hoare family continue to run the business. While Marilyn and husband Geoff live on site, their son Charlie and daughter Sarah ensure that Mum's high standards of care are lovingly provided across the two specialist homes.

Being family-run means that we’re
family-focussed

Family-Focussed

Being family-run means that we’re family-focussed - a culture runs throughout the Huntington & Langham Estate, where we are one big team providing excellent care and facilities in a loving family environment.

Our staffing levels are far greater than most homes in the UK, which is something we’re extremely proud of as it means we’re able to give every person the time and care they both deserve and need. Our warm family culture is also reflected in our staff retention levels, which are exemplary; we invest in our people and they stay with us for a very long time, giving the people who live in our homes not only the quality of care, but the continuum of care.

The continuous passion and drive to provide meaningful care is what led Charlie and Sarah to invest in the Butterfly and Dragonfly approaches, which have further embedded the outstanding care culture within the homes. The holistic approaches take care to an extra special level, where individuals are treated with love and given the time, respect and stimulation that makes them happy.

The H&L Estate

The estate outdoors offers further enjoyment for our residents; with nature ranging from horses and ponies, sheep, ducks, bees and butterflies – all while taking in the breath-taking views of the South Downs.

The purpose-built wheelchair accessible paths ensure all our residents can make the most of the beautiful outdoors at The Huntington & Langham Estate and we even have our own taxi service, which is perfect for days when afternoon tea is served in the shade by the lake.

If you’d like to learn more about our homes you can speak to a member of staff.

"I can’t sing the praises of the home and staff here. From the owners and managers right the way across the team to the magnificent carers, they have been so helpful, friendly, kind and considerate to my mother and the rest of our family. Nothing is too much trouble and they always try to involve Mum in the day to day events of the home."
