It’s with a fond farewell that we waved goodbye to Louise, our former general manager at Huntington and Langham. And we very much look forward to the next chapter with Stuart at the helm. Stuart brings with him a plethora of experience and we’re excited to see the positive impact he can make on our home.
Below are some words from Stuart himself about joining us at The Huntington and Langham Estate.
I am delighted to be joining the Huntington and Langham Estate and look forward to meeting everyone over the coming weeks and months. As I’m sure many of you will be interested to learn a little about me, I’ve pulled together a short summary.
I was born in the Bahamas, when it was a part of the British Colonies, and spent much of my early youth living in both south and north America. At 16 I returned to the UK and continued my education at Box Hill School in Dorking, part of the Gordonstoun Foundation. I then flew to Malaysia via Moscow and assisted at an Outward Bound School for a year, before returning to London, working in management accounts within Lloyds Bank. I stayed with them for many years, ending up in personnel and training.
However, when they merged with TSB, I left to run Surrey Fire and Rescue’s Training Centre for a couple years. I was then offered the opportunity to work with the Prime Minister of Albania before war broke out in Kosovo, spending the subsequent years assisting with their rebuilding working in partnership with the European Union and the United Nations Mission in Kosovo.
Once I returned to the UK, I joined the Priory at one of their drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities, which subsequently became my introduction into the world of care. A short while later, I joined Barchester Healthcare as a General Manager, running two of their flagship homes both in Kent and having enjoyed a successful career with them, I was commissioned to oversee the building and opening of a large brand new care home for Hallmark Care Homes in Lightwater, which was challenging, but rewarding.
I then went on to run two large care homes for other providers as well as being an Operations Director for a family run group of care homes in south London, much like the Huntington and Langham Estate.
Personally, I’m a tall chap in love with chocolate and of course my partner of 17 years. We currently live on Epsom Downs with our Tonkinese cat Empress, who originally came from San Francisco, where my better half comes from. We love to travel and explore from luxury cruise trips on Cunard’s Queen Mary through to travelling from north to south Iran last year on a highly specialised tour. I love to sail when I can, take great pleasure enjoying nature and can often be found at a London theatre or museum.
If you see me passing in the corridor, do say hello. It would be lovely to chat and find out more about you and your loved ones and how I can help to ensure your time with us at the Huntington and Langham Estate is a memorable one.
With kind regards,
Stuart
